Jon Foster

Jon Foster
www.jonfoster.com

Jon has lived in Providence for nearly two decades now and finds it hard to imagine living anywhere else. Well, that’s not exactly true. He would love to move to New Zealand or perhaps live in Paris near to the Louvre. But for now, he is quite happy being in this town, near to Rhode Island School of Design, where he earned my BFA.

Jon works in his home studio alongside his wife, two dogs and cat. They all live together and do our respective jobs quite peaceably, the only issue being the abundance of cast-off fur that finds its way into paintings, food and my eyebrows. Jon credits his wife as his muse and the pets are his comfort (although they trade these positions with ease) and cannot easily imagine his life without them.

Irene has been the Art Director for Tor/Forge books since 1994 and Starscape books since it's launch in 2001. By far the most exciting part of her job is working with all the wonderful artists and becoming good friends with many of them. She is on the board of Directors of the Society of Illustrators. In 2005 I helped Arnie and Cathy Fenner curate and organize an exhibition at the Museum of American Illustration of the first 11 years of Spectrum. Since then she has joined them on their advisory board. She and artist Dan Dos Santos run a regular painting demo series Art Out Loud and annual charity auction of miniature sf/f paintings called MicroVisions.
